<p>URIDA undertakes special programmes for vulnerable children like physically challenged, children of sex workers, slum dwellers, street and working children. The programmes include :</p>

<p>The inmate is directed to write about himself and his experiences from his childhood till present.    21 to 25 daysSharing his autobiography with his counselor. He is directed to work on it with suggestion of the counselor. 26 to 50 days<strong>Self confession :</strong></p>
<p>&#8220;We admit that we were powerless over our addiction, that our lives had become unmanageable.&#8221;</p>
<p>Sharing in the group to find his powerlessness and unmanageability.     51 to 70 days<strong>Making him optimistic towards the treatment</strong> : 2nd step.</p>
<p>&#8220;We come to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us, to sanity.&#8221;</p>
<p>Sharing with his counselor. Take help from where he is ready to get assistance.     71 to 80 days<strong>Expressing his will to change</strong> : Writing and sharing 3rd step.</p>
<p>“We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him&#8221;. With the counselor when he start surrendering his will to God.</p>
<p>81 to 90 daysTo work on relapse prevention plan. Making commitment with family members of centre to prevent relapse. 91to 100 daysIntroduction to N.A. or A.A. meeting. To have a sponsor for further progress.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> AMBEDKAR HASTSHILP VIKAS YOJANA </span></strong></p>
<p>AHVY is a unique programme initiated by the Min. of Textiles (GOI) ,for identification of potential artisans ,special focus on their skills and mainstream them to the world of exposures and gainful self employment. The programme takes account of formation of Self-Help Groups, trainings/workshops in various crafts, exhibitions and/or sale of artifacts in major craft bazaars.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The major clusters for interventions are Tikri Khurd (Narela) , Hastsal , Kakrola and Madhuvihar with artisans on different crafts like Art Jewellery, Embroidery,Painting, Soft Toys etc.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>In the year 2009-10, URIDA has conducted various programmes for the empowerment of artisans including six Skill Upgradation Trainings (in Embroidery, Soft Toys and Painting) and four Design &amp; Technical Development Workshops (in Art Jewellery, Soft Toys and Embroidery) with Consulting empanelled Resource Persons (designers) from NIIT.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As a part of the whole programme, 792 artisans have received their Artisans ID cards which allow the artisans to exhibit and/or sell their artifacts in Melas or Exhibitions all over India, supported by the Ministry of textiles without any fees. Also, under Rajiv Gandhi Swasthya Bima Yojana, till date, 508 Medical Insurance Cards have been issued and 194 artisans have received benefits.</p>

<p>21 Self Help Groups are presently functioning under URIDA.</p>

<p><strong><em>WISE FEDERATION</em></strong></p>
<p>For empowerment of all the SHGs, URIDA’s group of artisans jointly formed a federation – <strong>WISE</strong> ( <strong>Women Integrated Society of Entrepreneurs</strong>) with 15 leading artisans as its founder members.The federation has been registered under societiesregistration act. 1860 as on 7<sup>th</sup> dec 2009</p>

<p><strong>GUJRAT EARTHQUAKE:</strong></p>
<p>The calamity struck Gujrat and the destruction was so vast and sudden that thousand of people were buried alive and thousands were seriously injured. URIDA dispatched a team of doctors, social workers, Disaster relief managers, video grapher etc. This team covered about 38 villages adjoining Surendra Nagar, Bhuj, Anjar, Bhachau and along with medical equipment, medicines, tents, blankets and other essential commodities. The team established medical camps and operation theaters conducted minor operations, distributed medicines, blankets, tents, gas lanterns in the covered villages.</p>

</ul>
<p><strong> </strong>URIDA’s  Gender  Resource  Centre  Has  been  functioning  from  the  year  2006  at Kakrola, with the support of Dept. of Women and Child Development-GOI, where vocational training in four courses is being provided to the women beneficiaries of economically poor and backward classes free of cost. Each batch of six months trains approx. 200 women beneficiaries.</p>
<p>GRC also acts as an information/ facilitation Centre for the information seekers as well as needy women beneficiaries. Other important aspects are, free health checkups/free provisioning of medicines; legal counseling, health/ food &amp; nutrition camps and formation of Self Help Group for the economic development of the beneficiaries. Till date more than 1000 families have been covered under this program and approx 80% women are self employed or placed in commercial house nearly.</p>
<p>In addition to the Gender Specific Intervention through GRCS, the Government of NCT of Delhi has added a new programme (Samajik Suvidha Kendra) under its mission of services to the most vulnerable sections of the society at a single window ie “MISSION CONVERGENCE” , with the GRCs. The mission aims at better reach of benefits of various schemes meant for the development of slum and rural poor through the GRCs. Financial Assistance Schemes like Widow/ Old age/ Disabled Pension, Ladli and Construction workers welfare are being covered for the benefit of 20,000 households in the catchment areas of each GRC.</p>

<li><strong>URIDA GIRLS HOSTEL</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>URIDA has recently started a girls hostel to provide safe, comfortable -homely stay for students/working women at cheaper cost. We offer well equipped rooms with air condition, food and recreational facilities. URIDA only charges a nominal amount from the occupants, against maintenance of the hostel. Presently the hostel is 12 bedded and in due course of action, with the support of our entrusted donors, we expect to serve more than 50 girls at a time.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">KISHORI SHAKTI YOJNA</span></p>
<p>URIDA &#8211; KISHORI SHAKTI YOJANA was launched on 12th January, 2009 with the objective of improving the nutritional, health and development status of adolescent girls, promote awareness of health, hygiene, nutrition and family care, link them to opportunities for learning life skills, going back to school, help them gain a better understanding of their social environment and take initiatives to become productive members of the society. The programme through its interventions aims at bringing about a difference in the lives of the adolescent girls.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">STREE SHAKTI CAMPS</span></p>
<p>The Street Shakti Camps were organized mainly to provide health services to the beneficiaries sponsored by the Department of Social Welfare, DELHI . Seven Doctors of various disciplines with medical equipments, free provisioning o medicines, lab testing (Sugar, HB, Pregnancy and urine test) were the highlights of the programme.</p>

<p><strong>Objective :</strong> Minimize the traffic hazards / accidents ensuring better traffic flow and responsible/ cooperative citizens through :</p>

<p>URIDA had undertaken programmes for Road Safety awareness , sponsored by Ministry of Highways and road transport (Seminar /training workshops, street plays (Nukkad Natak) , Community Meetings etc.). We have also conducted Traffic Training programmes for children in the schools of Delhi and Haryana.</p>
<p>Through Road safety programmes we have covered approximately one lakh people of different community in target areas (Haryana and Delhi ). Approx. five to six thousand school children have attended the training programs (schools of Haryana &amp; Delhi).<br />
Road sense has improved the status of congested locations like Grain Market, crossings and Highway Junctions in sub Div. Gannaur, Haryana. School children in Gannaur have become definitely more aware due to frequent entertaining /educative road safety programmes.</p>

The organization is participating in Govt. run projects to improve the quality of medical services provided to maternal and child health and achieve population stabilization in the urban slums of Delhi and Haryana. Apart from promoting Reproductive Health Services, the focus has been on creating awareness about RTIs/STI, women and child immunization, and referrals to nearby hospitals also. URIDA is a Mother NGO for implementing RCH –II programme in South West District of Delhi, by the Dept. Of Health and Family Welfare, Min. of Health.</p>
